I’ve owned my deWiz AI golf swing analyser for two years now but in truth, I’ve really not used it as much as I should have. However, with a newfound desire to improve my golf swing and a better area to practise in my garden, now seems like the perfect time to see just how useful this device is and to put it through its paces.
While this blog post is more of a product overview and planning piece, I will be sharing regular progress posts and videos looking at how I am using the deWiz to analyse and improve my swing, which you’ll find over on the My Golf Journal section of this blog – so be sure to keep an eye out for those.
What is the deWiz AI Golf Swing Analyser?
The deWiz is a portable swing analyser and golf coach rolled into one. All you need to do is put it on your wrist, load the deWiz app and start making some swings. Whether you’re swinging in the house or garden, hitting balls on the range or playing a round of golf on the course, deWiz will show you a 3D-rendered model of your hand path on that particular swing as well as provide data on 14 unique measurements including:
- Transition
- Backswing Plane
- Initial Downside Direction X
- Initial Downswing Direction Y
- Steepening/Shallowing
- Length of Backswing
- Tempo
- Hand Speed
- Maximum Backswing Length
- Wedge: Partial Length of Backswing
- Wedge: Tempo
How much does the deWiz cost?
The price of the deWiz changes regularly, but generally speaking, it retails at around £375-£400, which is reasonable for the wealth of swing data it provides. The good news is that if you visit the official deWiz store using the button below and enter my exclusive discount code ‘ANDYSGOLFBLOG‘ at checkout, you can save an extra 10%.
How I plan to use the deWiz this winter
During the winter period, I intend to use my deWiz device to analyse and improve my golf swing mainly in my back garden. One of the great things about the deWiz is that you can use it to work on your golf swing without even hitting a golf ball, which is great at this time of year (cold and wet winter season).
Initially, the plan will be to use the Discovery mode within the app to analyse my golf swing, allowing me to obtain baseline numbers and identify swing flaws. Next, I’ll spend time using the Practice and Learn mode to improve four main swing elements – transition, tempo, backswing length and wedge control. I’ll be working through the bag and regularly comparing my new numbers with my initial baseline data to see how much my swing has improved, as well as completing some fun wedge challenges,
I’ll also be testing out deWiz’s On-course mode, a new addition to the app which allows you to gather swing data from real shots played on the golf course during your round, which will be interesting to compare with the data obtained from practise swings made in the garden.,
Over the course of the winter period, my hope is that by using the deWiz I’ll be able to not only identify areas for improvement but actually see evidence of progress through data analysis.
Comparing my swing data with the professionals
As you’ve probably already gathered from this article, the deWiz is an exciting piece of kit with the potential to make a huge difference to my golf swing. Not only is it popular with amateur golfers like you and I, it’s also used and endorsed by touring professionals including Henrik Stenson, Bryson DeChambeau, Annika Sörenstam, Vijay Singh and Yuka Saso, as well as Golf Channel’s teaching professional, Martin Hall.

Better still, deWiz also provides access to their swing data through the data dashboard, which allows users to compare their swing data with that of some of the best golfers of all time. Something tells me that my swing speed might not be quite up to that of Bryson DeChambeu’s, but we’ll see.
Next steps: My first task with the deWiz
Before I jump in head first to gather my baseline swing data, my first task will be to read through the instruction manual and watch the deWiz tutorials to ensure I set up and use the device correctly – something I always do before reviewing any golf product. Once that’s out of the way, I’ll be working through each of the clubs in my golf bag, making at least 5 swings with each to gather my swing data using the deWiz’s Discovery mode.
