Shot Scope has today announced the launch of their stunning brand-new Shot Scope X5 GPS and performance-tracking golf watch. This new watch is jam-packed with exciting new features and in this blog post, I'll tell you everything you need to know about it. Existing Shot Scope users and the wider golf community really are going to love this watch.

Shot Scope X5 GPS and Shot-tracking Golf Watch

The Shot Scope X5, along with the new Shot Scope PRO L2 laser rangefinder, is currently on sale under pre-release on the main Shot Scope website, and I’m hoping to get my hands on it within the next few weeks so that I can record an unboxing and first-look video for you guys. However, until then, here’s some detailed information to let you know what to expect from the new Shot Scope X5 golf watch.

New Product Announcement: Shot Scope X5 Golf Watch

shot scope has today announced the release of two brand new products to their ever growing range of GPS and performance tracking devices and laser rangefinders in this short video I’ll tell you about one of these products the shot scope X5 golf watch at the end of this video I’ll tell you how you can find out more about the other product launch today the pro L2 Laser Rangefinder now I’m expecting to get my hands on the shot scope X5 within the next couple of weeks as soon as I do I’ll make sure I record an unboxing and a first Loop video so make sure you follow this channel so that you’re notified when that new video drops after watching this video should you wish to place a pre-order for the X5 or just find out more you can do so on the main shot website and I’ve dropped a direct product Link in the description below so let’s discuss the shot scope X5 in more detail the X5 is short scope’s first golf watch release in nearly three years and builds on the success of the incredibly popular and award-winning shot scope V3 which if you follow this channel for a while you’ll know I am a big fan of visually these shot scrub X5 undoubtedly has a more premium look to it thanks largely to its 1.2 inch full color touchscreen it’s scratch resistant ceramic bezel and its silicon dust free interchangeable strap there’s no doubt in my mind that visually these short scope X5 is a huge Improvement on both the G3 and V3 watches and I think this will sit perfectly alongside many of the premium golf GPS watches on the market now the shot scope X5 has been designed for use both on and off of the golf course so first of all let’s talk about some of the exciting new features that you’ll find when you’re using it on the golf course in terms of core functionality the X5 retains a lot of the Fantastic features found on the short School V3 so these include things like GPS distances to the front middle and back of the green on the whole you are playing automatic performance tracking Hazard information and the ability to display how far you’ve hit your last shot

New On-Course Features

however the X5 also benefits from some really exciting new features that many shot scope users have been asking for for a long time the brand new green view feature means that for the very first time on a short scope device you’ll be able to see an illustration of the green on the whole you are currently playing and you’ll be able to use the touchscreen on the watch itself to drag and drop the pin in its correct location whilst the watch will only show a view of the green and not the entire hole this is definitely a step in the right direction from shot scope and it’s something I’ve been hoping for for a long time because I think this is going to be an incredibly useful and positive addition another new feature on the X5 that a lot of users have been hoping for is the digital scorecard feature this brand new addition to the X5 means that you’ll be able to see your score for the hole you are playing or for your entire round on the watch itself but even better than that you’ll actually be able to make edits and corrections to your score on the watch mid-round now whilst personally I prefer just to play my round and edit afterwards I can see the appeal of being able to actually edit correct your Strokes at the end of each hole especially if you find it difficult to look back or to remember how many strokes you took and this is definitely something that I think will appeal to quite a lot of short scope users as well as showing layout points to 100 150 and 200 yards on the golf course the X5 will now also show the distance to any dog legs on the whole you are playing given that the X5 won’t show a visual of the entire hole but just the green on the whole you are playing the addition of the dog leg information will be particularly useful if you’re playing a blind hole or a golf course you’re not entirely familiar with

Off-Course Features and Accessories

as mentioned earlier the shot scope X5 has been designed to be used both on and off the golf course as well as the fact that the X5 looks like a really nice looking watch there are a couple of new features that might just encourage you to use it off of the golf course one feature that I’m delighted to see built into the X5 is the step counter which will allow you to track your steps both on and off of the golf course this is definitely a feature that I’ve long hoped that shot skill would include in one of the future golf watches and I’m delighted to see that they have included it on the X5 as is already the case with the shot Scott V3 the X5 will come in a range of colors thanks to its interchangeable straps these straps will be available to purchase separately from short scope and at the time of purchasing your X5 you’ll be able to choose your preferred strap color remember though the RFID technology that shot scope utilizes to automatically track your shots on the golf course is built into the strap which means that you can only replace these straps with official shortcut straps from their website and they must be fitted the correct way finally in a similar move to most smart watches when you’re not using the X5 on the golf course you’ll be able to change how the clock face is displayed on the watch so there you have it the shot scope X5 looks like it’s going to be a fantastic addition to the short scope range and I can’t wait to get my hands on it be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments area below and if you are interested in placing a pre-order or finding out more about the shot scope X5 remember I’ve popped a direct link to the X5 in my description below next up if you want to find out a little bit more about the other product shot scope released today the pro L2 Laser Rangefinder then check out this video here

The X5 is Shot Scope’s first golf watch release in nearly 3 years, building on the success of their hugely popular and award-winning Shot Scope V3 golf watch – a product I absolutely love. Visually, the Shot Scope X5 undoubtedly has a much more premium look about it, thanks largely to its 1.2” full-colour touch screen, stylish scratch-resistant ceramic bezel and silicone dust-free interchangeable strap (other colours sold separately). There’s no doubt in my mind that visually, the X5 is a huge improvement on the V3 and will sit perfectly alongside the other premium GPS golf watches on the market.

On the course

On the golf course, in terms of its core functionality, the Shot Scope X5 has all of the fantastic features found on the V3 including dynamic yardages to the front, middle and back of the green, automatic shot tracking, carry distances and locations for hazards, and last shot distance tracking. However, the X5 also benefits from some really exciting new features that many Shot Scope users have requesting for a while now.

Green View

The brand new Green View feature means that for the first time on a Shot Scope watch, you’ll be able to see an illustration of the green on the hole you are currently playing, and you’ll be able to drag and drop the pin to its correct location using the touch screen. Whilst the watch will only show a view of the green and not the entire hole, this is a really exciting and useful addition to the watch.

Shot Scope X5

On Course Scoring with Digital Scorecard

Another new feature that some Shot Scope users have been waiting for is the Digital Scorecard. This will allow you not only to view your score for the hole or round but you will also be able to edit and update your score mid-round. Whilst I personally prefer just to play golf and edit my score afterwards, I can see the benefit of being able to make changes or at least confirm the correct number of strokes have been recorded before moving on to the next hole.

Shot Scope X5

Layup points and doglegs

In addition to showing the distance to 100, 150 and 200 yard layup points, the X5 will now also show the distance to doglegs on the golf course. Given that the watch will not display a visual of the hole (only the green) you are playing, highlighting doglegs is the next best thing and will definitely be useful when playing blind holes or holes you are not familiar with.

Shot Scope X5

Off the course

As was the case with the V3, the X5 has been designed to be worn both on and off the golf course. As well as the fact that the X5 looks like a really nice-looking watch, there are a couple of other new features that may also encourage you to wear it when you are not golfing.

Step Counter

One thing that I’m delighted to see built into the X5 is a step counter which will allow you to track your steps both on and off of the golf course. This is something I’ve long hoped that Shot Scope would include and will definitely encourage me to wear the watch when not on the golf course.

Interchangeable straps and watch faces

As is the case with the V3, the silicone strap on the X5 will be available in a range of different colours and because it’s interchangeable, you’ll be able to buy and fit replacement straps purchased directly from Shot Scope.  Remember, the RFID technology is built into the Shot Scope straps so only genuine Shot Scope straps will work with the G3/V3 and X5 watches.

Similarly to smart watches, the X5 will also allow you to change the display of its clock face so that you can find something a little more in keeping with your style.

Shot Scope X5

Final thoughts

So there you have it, it looks like Shot Scope has done a fantastic job of bringing to market a really stunning golf watch. As a huge fan of the Shot Scope V3 golf watch, I’m really excited to get my hands on the X5 and think the new features such as the Green View and step counter are going to be incredibly useful.

As soon as I get my hands on the Shot Scope X5 next couple of weeks I’ll record and upload an unboxing and first-look video to my YouTube channel, so be sure to check that out. Also, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the X5 so drop a comment below to let me know what you think.
