First Look: Everything We Know About the Shot Scope LM1 Launch Monitor

Table of Contents
Shot Scope is officially entering the launch monitor market. From pricing to technical specs, here is a breakdown of everything we know so far about the highly anticipated Shot Scope LM1.

Ahead of this year’s PGA Show in Florida, Shot Scope released news of their latest product, the LM1, their first-ever venture into the portable golf launch monitor market. For most golf brands, January’s PGA Show presents the perfect opportunity to generate a real buzz ahead of the new season, and Shot Scope has certainly delivered.

The Shot Scope LM1 is a remarkably compact and sleek-looking unit. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, it appears perfectly suited to golfers who want simple, essential, high-level data without things becoming overly complicated.

Price and Release Date

Based on the information released so far, the LM1 will be competitively priced at $199 / £199 / $249 CAD, with a release date set for 26 March 2026. At this price point, the LM1 is likely to be one of the most affordable radar-based launch monitors on the market, and I’ve a feeling it’s going to fly off the shelves.

Key Features We Can Expect

According to what we know so far, the LM1 will provide instant access to five essential data points via a built-in 3.5″ colour display:

  • Club Speed
  • Ball Speed
  • Smash Factor
  • Carry Distance
  • Total Distance

Whether you’re looking to improve your clubhead speed or just want to better understand your club gapping, the LM1 will definitely be useful. Users will be able to select their club and control the unit using physical buttons on the side of the device, meaning there will be no requirement to be connected to the Shot Scope app during your session. Helpfully, however, session data will be stored on the device and can be synchronised with the Shot Scope mobile app afterwards for further analysis and review.

Design and Technology

The LM1 uses Doppler radar technology and reportedly only requires about 4–5ft of space behind the ball. This small requirement suggests it will be a great option for indoor home setups, outdoor range sessions, or even use on the golf course.

For those planning on using it outdoors, the LM1 has an IPX3 rating, which should allow it to cope with light moisture or a brief shower (something I’ll certainly be putting to the test here in Scotland!).

Other key features at a glance:

  • Weight: 300g – extremely lightweight and compact.
  • Comes with a premium carry case.
  • Charges via USB-C – a welcome move away from proprietary cables Shot Scope normally uses.
  • 5-hour battery life from a single charge.
  • No monthly subscription fees.
  • Free access to the Shot Scope GPS mobile app.

What are my initial thoughts on the LM1?

I’m really excited about this release and can’t wait to get the LM1 out for a full review. I’ve used Shot Scope products for years, and if this device is anything like their watches or rangefinders, not only is it going to be a great piece of kit, but the Shot Scope users are going to love it.

Having recently invested in the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2, I’ve seen firsthand how much more productive and enjoyable practise sessions have become when you have real-time feedback through a device like this. While the LM1 may seem basic compared to higher-end units, it provides many of the core metrics most golfers actually need to improve. The average golfer really will benefit from learning their carry numbers, a metric I feel many amateurs tend to inflate.

For me, LM1 will be the perfect option for those who want to gently dip their toes into the launch monitor market without having to worry about the higher price tag or technical overhead.

Perhaps most importantly for the users, though, Shot Scope is staying true to form by keeping this device affordable and free from recurring costs. By combining a low price with a subscription-free model, they really are making their game improvement products affordable for all.

There’s no doubt that the LM1 is going to make waves in the budget launch monitor market, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it to see for myself just how well it works.

What do you think of Shot Scope’s first move into the launch monitor space? At £199 with no subscription fees, will this meet your needs and go straight into your golf bag, or are you looking for more advanced metrics? I’d love to hear your thoughts or any questions you have about the LM1 ahead of my testing, so let me know in the comments area below.
