From the coverage I saw of last week’s PGA Show in Orlando, it looked like Shot Scope stole the show with their two latest products: their £200 LM1 launch monitor and the H50 Handheld GPS.
In a previous post, I covered everything we know so far about the LM1. Similarly, now that the dust has settled, it’s time to take a closer look at what we can expect from the Shot Scope H50.
As the name suggests, the Shot Scope H50 is a handheld GPS device. Over the past few years, Shot Scope’s focus has mainly been on GPS shot-tracking golf watches like the Shot Scope V5 and an ever-growing collection of laser rangefinders. Now, though, it seems they’ve turned their attention back to golfers who prefer not to wear watches. This is their first handheld release since the popular Shot Scope H4 Handheld, and it certainly seems like a major upgrade.

Price and release date
The H50 is due to be released on 9th March 2026, and will retail at £249.99 (€269.99 / $199.99 / $269.99 CAD). As with all Shot Scope products, the H50 will come with a standard 2-year warranty.
AMOLED display
With their first full handheld release in years, Shot Scope has gone all out with the inclusion of a 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen. This is similar technology to that used on modern smartphones, providing a crisp, colour-rich display that should be easy to read even in the brightest British summer sun.
Golfers who find the smaller screens on GPS golf watches a little bit fiddly will have no issues navigating a display of this size. The H50 also supports both portrait and landscape modes, which will be particularly handy when using the new four-player digital scorecard.
Advanced mapping and green contours
Over 42,000 golf courses worldwide are pre-loaded on the device, so it’s ready to go straight out of the box. While golfers can view full hole overviews including trees and hazards, they can also use the touchscreen to obtain distances to specific layup points for better course management.
The real game-changer, though, is the inclusion of detailed green maps with contours. Mapped metre-by-metre, these digital elevation maps show the true shape and slope of every putting green. This allows you to target the perfect landing areas and attack pins with much more confidence. This is a feature usually reserved for high-end apps, so seeing it on a dedicated handheld is very exciting!

What else can we expect?
As well as the above, the H50 has some other great features:
- “Plays Like” Distances: Yardages adjusted for elevation changes.
- Dual-Band GPS: For enhanced accuracy and faster connection times.
- Manual Shot Tracking: Giving you access to over 100 performance stats and Strokes Gained data.
- Multiplayer Mode: Track scores for up to four players on one device.
- Cart Magnet: Features an extra-strong built-in cart magnet and an IPX7 waterproof rating.
- Battery Life: 15+ hours (comfortably 36 holes) with modern USB-C charging.
What are my thoughts on the H50?
I think this is another solid offering from Shot Scope and one I can’t wait to test. What has become clear to me over the many years that I have reviewed golf tech is that while watches are popular, a huge number of golfers simply don’t like wearing anything on their wrists.
The H50 bridges that gap perfectly. It helps golfers move away from mobile apps, which can be quite expensive and, in my experience, really do tend to drain your phone battery, whilst providing many of the same features found on the Shot Scope golf watches.
Having always tracked my shots automatically, I’m interested to see how the manual tracking feels in on the course. If those contour maps are as good as they look, this device might go straight into my bag as the perfect companion to my V5 watch.
Which features do you think interest you most on the H50, and what do you think of the pricing for this product? I’m hoping to get a unit in for testing soon, so is there anything specific you’d like me to look at? Let me know your thoughts, opinions, or questions in the comments area below.
